Multicultural Disaster Prevention

The IIA is striving to make Iwaki's disaster prevention measures more inclsive to its international residents. We publish useful information about emergencies and disasters in multiple languages. Please be sure to make use of this information, not only in times of emergency, but also in daily life, to be well prepared in the event that a disaster does occur.

Notice ”Ｊ- ALERT” (The Japan Early Warning System )

”Jアラート”とは？“J-ALERT？/J-alert/J警报/J경보(전국순간경보시스템) /Jalert - Hệ thống báo động khẩn cấp toàn quốc

“J-ALERT SYSTEM ” is the notification from the Japanese government to inform people living in areas where a major disaster has occurred (may occur) or a missile hit (is expected to fly of the danger.

In areas where there is a risk of missiles being launched, sirens will be sounded and warnings will be announced over loudspeakers in cities and towns. Announcement will also be broadcast on TV, radio and smartphones.

If you have a smartphone, make sure it is set up to receive J-ALERT. ( It is called "Area Mail" at NTT Docomo. while at au and Softbank, it is called "Emergency News Mail". ) If you do not have a contract with a mobile phone company, you can obtain such emergency information using the "SafetyTips" app in areas with Wi-Fi, so be sure to have this app installed.
